Seasonal Events have become more and more popular with game developers setting out player expectations higher than ever each year. These events are usually in celebration of the Holiday seasons around the world.
So what’s the nearest holiday to celebrate right now? Halloween! Here are games with Halloween events you can join in to celebrate and play with other spooky fellows.
1. Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Halloween Night
October 31 (5 PM to Midnight)
Avid players of Animal Crossing: New Horizons should have already gotten an announcement letter from Jack, the Czar of Halloween. In the letter, Jack states that he will be creeping around for Halloween on the 31st of October.
This marks the start of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Seasonal Halloween event and the developers have even warned their community to prepare for the Halloween season as “things are getting spooky.”
2. Apex Legends - Fight or Fright
October 4 to November 1
Another battle royale with a Halloween event is Apex Legends and their Fight or Fright event. This event features three game modes which are Shadow Royale, Gun Run, and Control. One of these will be playable each week. Additionally, this event also debuts the Olympus After Dark map which should excite veterans trying to find something new.
Fight or Fright will last for four weeks from October 4 to November 1, so you’ll have plenty of time to wreak havoc during the Halloween season.
3. Dead by Daylight - Haunted by Daylight
October 13 to November 1
The Haunted by Daylight event was announced on October 6th for Dead by Daylight for the Halloween season. When played completely, the event rewards you with 12 Halloween-themed cosmetics for you to use. These cosmetics include outfits, charms, and some Halloween collections.
Dead by Daylight also becomes free to play from October 27 to November 1 as part of the Haunted by Daylight event.
4. Devour
September 29 to November 1
Devour’s developers have prepared some special treats for their dedicated community this Halloween Season. As part of Steam's Scream Fest, a Halloween Event that lasts from September 29 to November 1 was announced last September.
The event features new cosmetics, a pet system, and map updates. Some examples that can be found now are the Cultist Robe, Pumpkin Robe, Goat pet, and Spider pet. You can check out everything they have in store for you right here.
5. Fortnite - Fortnitemares
October 18
Fortnite has consistently made seasonal events part of the gaming experience and Halloween is one they make sure to never miss out on. Fortnitemares started in 2017 and has evolved from players getting Halloween-themed cosmetics to lore-building content.
All we know as of now is that Fortnitemares 2022 will start on October 18. You can check out their teaser here and speculate what’s in store for you.
6. Minecraft - Spookyfest and Spooky Fall
October 4 to November 9 (Spookyfest)
October 26 and November 9 (Spooky Fall)
Minecraft’s Halloween event is called Spookyfest which promises spookier content. These include Halloween-themed Minecraft adventure maps in the Minecraft Marketplace and seasonal trials in Minecraft Dungeons. Other additional content for both games includes three free Character Creator items and 13 free skins inside a skin pack.

7. Pokémon UNITE - Halloween Night in Mar Stadium
October 27 to November 17
Pokémon UNITE has recently announced on its Japanese website that it will hold a Halloween Festival named “Halloween Night in Mar Stadium.” It involves players throwing pumpkins at each other, then defeating vulnerable opponents who hold no pumpkins.
This is only the second time a Halloween event has happened, and this solidifies that Pokémon UNITE will hold more seasonal events in the future.
8. Warframe - Nights of Narberus
October 5
Nights of Narberus, Warframe’s yearly Halloween-themed event, returns to be enjoyed by veteran and new players alike.
It brings back the enemy boss Daughter and introduces new store items such as the Jackonaut Statue, Revenant in Action Glyph, Halloween Orbiter Decorations, and Sheev Blueprint. More items will be added so keep a look out for Warframe news on their website.
9. Phasmophobia
October 7
If Phasmophobia was not scary enough, Kinetic Games have announced a Halloween event that makes Nightmare difficulty even scarier. The modified game mode adds candies that can be collected and Jack-o'-lanterns that can be lit. Doing these increases your sanity, helping you out when your Sanity Pills run out or you just don‘t want to spend them.
Look out for contracts with a pumpkin sticker since only these contracts have candies and Jack-o’-lanterns. Completing all contracts with pumpkin stickers will award you a Halloween Trophy to show off.
10. Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis Spook-tober
October 13 to December 8
One of the few surviving MMOs from the early 2010s is still thriving and even celebrating with us with its own holiday event. Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis celebrates the Halloween season with spooky-themed quests, costumes, decorations, enemies, and in-game events.
However, not all of these will end on the same date as others. The decorations and special quest will only last until November 10, while the costume party will last until December 8. Expected Halloween Events
These are some of the video games with confirmed Halloween events, but there are definitely still some that should also be expected to celebrate the spooky seasons. Some of these are Pokémon GO, Echo Arena, Ark: Survival Evolved, Cozy Grove, and Don’t Starve Together.
